Sarawak gold 1 pineapples to be dispatched to peninsular Malaysia

A shipment consisting of 7,000 Sarawak Gold 1 (SG1) pineapples, totaling 10.5 tons, is scheduled for dispatch to peninsular Malaysia from the TG Agro Fruit Sdn Bhd plantation in Kampung Sungai Tukau. The consignment will be transported in a 20-foot temperature-controlled container to Johor Bahru, with an expected arrival at Pasir Gudang Port by the end of the month, marking a two-week delivery period.

The 200-acre SG1 pineapple plantation, situated over 12 kilometers from Miri city center, stands as a pioneer in the cultivation and production of this pineapple variety. During a visit to the plantation, the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (MPIB) chairman, Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali, highlighted ongoing quality assessments by MPIB's Marketing Development Division and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Mardi) to evaluate the SG1 pineapples' durability and marketability. These pineapples are destined for distribution among entrepreneurs and industries involved in both fresh and processed pineapple products in the peninsula. The initiative aims to test the longevity of SG1 pineapples in various conditions, including cold storage and during transport, to potentially boost export volumes in response to growing international demand.
