In Washington, April 1 potato stocks totaled 31.5 million cwt. Disappearance to date totaled 68.2 million cwt. Nationally, the major potato States held 142 million cwt in storage on April 1, 2024, up 17 percent from April 1, 2023. Potatoes in storage accounted for 32 percent of the 2023 production, up 2 percent from the same period a year earlier. The indicated season to date disappearance, at 299 million cwt, was up 6 percent from the same period last year.
Processors in Idaho used 54.1 million cwt of potatoes for the season. In Oregon, 26.0 million cwt of potatoes had been used by processors for the season. In Oregon, 6.74 million cwt had been used in Malheur County and 19.3 million cwt had been used in other counties. In Washington, 45.4 million cwt of potatoes had been used by processors for the season.
