Celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, Système U has decided to change its name to "Coopérative U". CEO Dominique Schelcher made the announcement today in front of the 1,500 members attending the group's congress on May 16th and 17th.
France's fourth-largest food retailer wants to "reassert its choice in favor of a flexible, supportive and sustainable cooperative model". However, the Hyper U, Super U, U Express, and Utile banners will retain their names.
