New director of integrated communications for California Walnut Board and Commission

The California Walnut Board (CWB) and California Walnut Commission (CWC) are pleased to announce that Christine Lott has been named director of integrated communications.

Lott will work proactively to help drive more visibility to activate sales for California walnuts. She will support domestic and international marketing efforts with a focus on public and media relations, spanning consumer and trade segments including retail, foodservice, food manufacturing, and the nut trade. She will also oversee corporate and industry communication activities, including refreshing the California Walnuts website, managing digital and social media platforms, and expanding California walnut industry news and information sharing.

"Christine's activities will be an integral part of our efforts to expand California walnut consumption through better-informed consumers and trade partners," said Robert Verloop, executive director and chief executive officer for the CWB and CWC. "With a strong background in consumer marketing, she understands the importance of having a proactive integrated approach to consumer, trade, and industry communications."

Lott brings extensive experience in communications and product marketing to her new role. Most recently, she worked in new business development for Safe Food Alliance (SFA). Prior, she worked for 13 years at Blue Diamond Growers as the senior global brand manager. She led the marketing department for the international consumer division, which encompassed all branded products available in retail stores under the Blue Diamond brand in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, including milks (Almond Breeze), snack nuts, and various other nut-based products.

Lott has a great appreciation and respect for the complexities in agriculture and family farms, having been raised on a California dairy farm and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science and management from the University of California, Davis.

"Having been raised on a dairy operation in a small farm town, I was instilled with a deep appreciation for California agriculture and its importance to providing safe and nutritious food for the world," said Lott. "It is a passion of mine to support farmers and producers in this livelihood and help ensure that they can continue the important role of feeding the world for generations to come."
