Giumarra partners with Seeka to offer Exotic kiwiberries

Giumarra Wenatchee has announced the second season of its New Zealand-grown kiwiberries. The fruit will be offered in partnership with Seeka, one of New Zealand’s premier produce companies. The kiwiberries will be shipped now through the end of March.

"We are delighted to partner with Guimarra and for them to carry our brand for this high quality kiwiberry fruit," stated Michael Franks CEO at Seeka. "We have an extensive relationship with them and the two company's cultures are very similar. We aim to build this into a long term relationship."

The kiwiberries are grown in the Bay of Plenty of New Zealand’s North Island. The microclimate of the Te Puke region is renowned for growing high quality kiwiberries.

“With the ever-growing global demand for kiwiberries, production is increasing at a record pace, allowing us to provide good volumes of high quality product for an extended period of time,” says Jason Bushong, division manager of Giumarra Wenatchee. “All product is shipped via air to assure optimum quality, shelf life, and flavor.

“We recommend merchandising kiwiberries in the refrigerated berry section to take advantage of the high sales volume and consumer popularity of the berry category,” says Scott Ross, eastern region business manager. “Their green color adds visual excitement to the colorful berry department. Additionally, there is untapped marketing potential for kiwiberries due to their nutrient density, convenience, and distinctiveness.”

The kiwiberries are sold in 4.4 and 18 oz. clamshells for “grab and go” merchandising and is available on both the East and West Coasts.

“Giumarra is proud to represent our grower partners Seeka in the pursuit of providing a great-eating experience to the consumer,” says Mr. Bushong.
