Grower-shipper donates to Renovations for Recovery

D’Arrigo Bros. Co. has generously donated to Sun Street Centers’ ongoing campaign, Renovations for Recovery, for capital improvements to the men’s recovery center located on 8 Sun Street in Salinas. A ribbon-cutting was held on Tuesday, Sept 27 at 11:30am. Established in 1968, Sun Street Center rehabilitated an abandoned labor camp to help alcoholics to a path of recovery from addiction. The Social Model Theory of recovery, established at Sun Street Centers, helps men rebuild their families, give back to their community, and regain their self-esteem.

John and Sandy D’Arrigo toured several months ago and were very impressed with the values and successes they saw at Sun Street Centers. In speaking to Board President Jerry Bunker, John D’Arrigo stated, “this is something all of us can relate to and every Ag business should be getting behind.” Sun Street Centers CEO, Anna Foglia, added “25% of our clients come from farm worker and Ag business, but alcoholism and addiction comes from all age, education, income levels, and industries.”

D’Arrigo made a generous gift to help renovate the Laundry Room, where the men do all their daily laundry chores.
