Previously, onions were sold for Rs 200 to Rs 250 per kilogram, but prices have now fallen to Rs 100 to Rs 120 per kilogram in various regions. In Lahore, the price has dropped further, with onions available for Rs 80 to Rs 100 per kilogram. Dera Ismail Khan and Swat are selling onions for Rs 120 per kilogram, and in Sukkur, the price is Rs 130 per kilogram.
This decrease in onion prices is a positive development for Pakistani households, particularly against the recent wheat crisis background. The overall reduction in food prices marks a shift towards better affordability and economic relief for consumers, with expectations of continued improvements in the accessibility of essential commodities.
