On Monday, April 8, Paraguay sent a new batch of kaki to the Spanish city of Valencia, consisting of 6 containers with 130,000 kilos. The president of the National Plant Health and Seed Service (Senave), Pastor Soria, said they expect to export 300 tons of kaki this year.
Frutas del Paraguay SA, a subsidiary of Cerro Corá from the Misiones department, organized the shipment. According to Soria, demand is good in Europe and prices in this market can range between 4 and 8 euros per kilo.
Steps have been taken to expedite transport to the port of Paranaguá, seeking to reduce the transit time from 40 to 45 days. Negotiations have already started with the Brazilian authorities to ensure a smoother transit without interrupting the cold chain.
In addition, the company expects to reach its maximum production capacity in 2026, with a crop projection of 500,000 hectares. This effort is part of a broader strategy to boost Paraguay's fruit sector, taking advantage of the country's favorable climatic conditions to explore new markets and sectors.
